Melanotan II binds several melanocortin receptor subtypes rather than a single target. MC1R on melanocytes drives melanin synthesis, while MC3R and MC4R participate in energy balance, appetite, and sexual response pathways. This lack of selectivity explains why reported effects extend beyond skin darkening. Substitutions at positions four and seven, including norleucine and D-phenylalanine, increase potency and resistance to peptidases. Understanding which receptor mediates which effect remains an active area of investigation.
Published human data come mostly from small, short studies rather than large controlled trials. Reported outcomes include increased skin pigmentation and, in some reports, effects on appetite and libido, but sample sizes are small and follow-up is limited. Whether long-term use produces durable pigment changes or adverse effects is not established. Because products sold outside pharmacies are not standardized, the actual content of any given vial is often unknown. Independent testing of such material is uncommon.
Melanotan-2 is frequently confused with afamelanotide, a linear analogue authorised in the European Union for erythropoietic protoporphyria. The two compounds differ in chain length, ring structure and receptor selectivity, so findings for one cannot be transferred directly to the other. Published controlled human data on melanotan-2 remain sparse, and much of what circulates online derives from small studies or unpublished reports. Questions about effect size, dose-response behaviour and long-term safety therefore remain unresolved.
Melanotan-2 is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide designed as an analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Its sequence incorporates a lactam bridge that constrains the peptide into a ring, which increases resistance to enzymatic breakdown relative to the natural hormone. Researchers at the University of Arizona synthesised the compound in the late 1980s and early 1990s while studying pigmentation pathways. It has never received marketing approval from any national medicines regulator. In the scientific literature it is usually described as a laboratory research reagent rather than a therapeutic product.

Activity is attributed to agonism at melanocortin receptors, particularly MC1R and MC4R. Activation of MC1R on melanocytes increases melanin synthesis, which underlies the reported tanning effect. MC4R engagement in the central nervous system is linked to appetite suppression and to effects on sexual arousal reported in early clinical studies. Those studies were small and were not designed to establish efficacy or long-term safety. Receptor selectivity among the melanocortin subtypes is not absolute, which complicates attribution of any effect to a single pathway.
Regulatory treatment varies between countries. Several national medicines agencies have classified the peptide as unapproved, and customs authorities in some jurisdictions seize shipments on that basis. A few jurisdictions channel supply through prescription-only frameworks that do not list the substance by name. Because the material circulates mainly through online vendors, composition and purity are rarely verified before sale. Surveys of unapproved peptide products have reported labels that did not match measured content in a substantial fraction of samples.
Production of instant tea can be broken down into six main steps: selection of raw materials, extraction, aroma stripping, tea cream processing, concentration, and drying. Selection of tea leaves is done with the best interests of both the manufacturer and end user. Because of certain legal restrictions in tea producing countries, it is most cost effective for manufacturers to use fermented, undried black leaves, as they do not have to pass through public auctions and are therefore cheaper. Quality is not sacrificed, as research has been done to show that this type of leaf has similar flavor when compared to dried, black leaves. Extraction is done with two goals in mind: yield of tea solids extracted from the leaf, and concentration of the extract solution. Research has shown that tea leaf solubles in a column extractor can be described in a system of three components, each which obey a first-order solution law. The explanation given for why the soluble compounds fall into any of these three categories is based on how accessible they are. The instantly soluble compounds are likely to be right on the surface of the leaf, which is why they are the first to be obtained. The rapidly soluble components are thought to be from the inside of the leaves, where broken cell structures slow both the rate of solvent entering as well as solute leaving. The slowest soluble compounds are expected to have either high molecular mass, which would take longer to move through the cell matrices of the leaves, or products formed during hydrolysis over the course of the extraction.
Hydrogen sulfide is about one-half as toxic as hydrogen cyanide, and intoxicates by the same mechanism (inhibition of the respiratory enzyme cytochrome oxidase), though hydrogen sulfide is less likely to cause sudden poisonings from small inhaled amounts (near its permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 20 ppm) because of its disagreeable odor. However, its presence in ambient air at concentration over 100–150 ppm quickly deadens the sense of smell, and a victim may breathe increasing quantities without noticing until severe symptoms cause death. Dissolved sulfide and hydrosulfide salts are toxic by the same mechanism.
The Cortlandt Street station on the New York City Subway's IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line was also in close proximity to the World Trade Center complex, and the entire station, along with the surrounding track, was reduced to rubble. The station was rebuilt and reopened to the public on September 8, 2018.
==== Standard products ==== Non-exclusives, "standard" or "catalogue products" constitute the second most important outlet for fine chemicals after custom manufacturing. API-for-Generics are the most important sub-category. Because of patent expiries, over 60 of the top 200 drugs alone, representing aggregated sales of over $150 billion, have fallen into the public domain within the past decade. This, along with government-backed incentives, are causing global sales of generics to rapidly increase. Asian companies currently dominate the API-for-Generics business. They have multiple advantages, including their low cost basis, large home markets, and significant previous manufacturing experience compared to western manufacturers in producing for their domestic and other non-regulated markets.
== Formulation == Aulus Cornelius Celsus details one version of the antidote in De Medicina (ca. AD 30). A recent translation is as follows: "But the most famous antidote is that of Mithridates, which that king is said to have taken daily and by it to have rendered his body safe against danger from poison". Pierogi, however, require complete immersion, followed by the removal of excess liquid—a significant technological challenge both in terms of the freeze-drying process and the preparation of the dish on board the ISS. While hot water can be added from a dispenser, there is no way to dispose of the leftover liquid. To solve this, freeze-dried vegetable broth was added to the pouch, allowing astronauts to first drink the broth in which the pierogi rehydrated and then enjoy the main dish. NASA's Advanced Food Technology Project (AFT) is researching ways to ensure an adequate food supply for long-duration space exploration missions. This research is primarily focused on mitigating the adverse health effects caused by long duration spaceflight. The impact to health can include symptoms such as weight loss, dehydration, a reduction in red blood cell count, constipation and electrolyte imbalances. The Advanced Food Technology Project aims to develop space foods that minimize these adverse effects.
On 4 June, Hezbollah rejected the truce deal announced the previous day and instead demanded a comprehensive truce and full withdrawal of Israel from Lebanon. On 19 June, an American official said that Israel and Hezbollah agreed to a truce mediated by the US, Qatar and Iran. On 26 June, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a framework deal between Israel and Lebanon for "lasting peace and security" via US mediation. The agreement includes a cease-fire, requiring Hezbollah to end hostilities and withdraw from southern Lebanon, but it was subsequently rejected by Hezbollah.
The Asian Federation for Psychotherapy published a code of ethics in 2008 with the following principles: Beneficence, Responsibility, Integrity, Justices, and Respect. Similar to the APA code, it provides detailed instructions for the conduct of psychologists, specifically psychotherapists. Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Malaysia, and Japan are member countries. The National Latina/o Psychological Association adopted their current ethical guidelines in 2018, stating that "the traditional Eurocentric foundations in mainstream psychology have provided culturally bound knowledge about worldviews, ways of living, and cultural practices." Their principles are: Respect and Responsibility, Ethical Dilemmas, Ethical Decision-Making and Legal Responsibility, Consultation, Justice and Advocacy, Self-Awareness and Social-Consciousness, Action and Accountability, Training and Creating Infrastructure, and Mentorship.
== Applications == Mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) can be used to map the spatial distribution of biomolecules in tissue without prior labeling of specific targets. It is used in clinical pharmacological research to examine changes in proteins, lipids and metabolites associated with the disease. Applications include biomarker identification, cancer research, studies of treatment response and evaluation of drug-delivery methods. Ion colocalization has been studied as a way to infer local interactions between biomolecules. Similarly to colocalization in microscopy imaging, correlation has been used to quantify the similarity between ion images and generate network models.

where T is the kinetic energy, CL is a shape function that depends on the forbiddenness of the decay (it is constant for allowed decays), F(Z, T) is the Fermi Function (see below) with Z the charge of the final-state nucleus, E = T + mc2 is the total energy,
Nuclear fission is a reaction in which the nucleus of an atom splits into two or more smaller nuclei. The fission process often produces neutrons and gamma rays, and releases a very large amount of energy even by the energetic standards of radioactive decay. The free energy released by the fission of one uranium-235 atom is about 100 million times the energy released by burning one carbon atom in air to produce CO2. Nuclear fission was discovered by chemists Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann and physicists Lise Meitner and Otto Robert Frisch. Hahn and Strassmann proved that a fission reaction had taken place on 19 December 1938, and Meitner and her nephew Frisch explained it theoretically in January 1939. Frisch named the process "fission" by analogy with biological fission of living cells. In their second publication on nuclear fission in February 1939, Hahn and Strassmann predicted the existence and liberation of additional neutrons during the fission process, opening up the possibility of a nuclear chain reaction by assembling a critical mass of fissile material. For heavy nuclides, it is an exothermic reaction which releases large amounts of energy both as electromagnetic radiation and as kinetic energy of the fragments (heating the bulk material where fission takes place). Like nuclear fusion, for fission to produce energy, the total binding energy of the resulting elements must be greater than that of the starting element. The fission barrier must also be overcome.
Although overall yields are comparatively low, Lower Saxony is also an important supplier of crude oil in the European Union. Mineral products still mined today include iron. Radioactive waste is frequently transported in the area to the city of Salzgitter, for the deep geological repository Schacht Konrad and between Schacht Asse II in the Wolfenbüttel district and Lindwedel and Höfer. Manufacturing is another large part of the regional economy. Despite decades of gradual downsizing and restructuring, the carmaker Volkswagen with its five production plants within the state's borders still remains the single biggest private-sector employer, its world headquarters in Wolfsburg. Due to the Volkswagen Law, which has recently been ruled illegal by the European Union's high court, the state of Lower Saxony is still the second-largest shareholder, owning 20.3% of the company. Thanks to the importance of car manufacturing in Lower Saxony, a thriving supply industry is centred around its regional focal points. Other mainstays of the Lower Saxon industrial sector include aviation (the region of Stade is called CFK-Valley), shipbuilding (such as Meyer Werft), biotechnology, and steel. Medicine plays a major role; Hanover and Göttingen have two large University Medical Schools and hospitals, and Otto Bock in Duderstadt is the largest producer of prosthetics and associated componentry in the world. The service sector has gained importance following the demise of manufacturing in the 1970s and 1980s.

No regulator in a major market has approved it for human use. It appears in research settings and in products marketed outside pharmacy channels. Legal status for personal possession varies by country.
Afamelanotide is a linear analog that has received approval in some jurisdictions for a specific photoprotection indication. Melanotan II is cyclic and less selective across melanocortin receptors. The two are related but are not interchangeable in regulatory or clinical terms.
A compound that activates several receptor subtypes may produce effects beyond pigmentation. Selectivity influences which tissues respond and shapes the side-effect profile described in reports. Designing subtype-selective analogs is a stated goal of melanocortin research.
It is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide modelled on alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. A lactam bridge links two side chains, forming a ring that stabilises the molecule against proteolysis. It belongs to the broader melanocortin peptide family.
